CHINESE THERAPEUTIC ACTIONS
1. Tonifies the Liver and Kidney
2. Retains Jing (Essence) and Body Fluids
DOSAGE
6 to 12 grams. In severe cases, use up to 30 grams of Shan Zhu Yu. The unprocessed herb has a stronger bind- ing function to treat spontaneous or night perspiration. The steamed form (with grain-based liquor) has a warmer and stronger tonic effect for the Liver and Kidney, and is commonly used to treat low back pain, dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, impotence, premature ejaculation, and incontinence.
CAUTIONS I CONTRAINDICA TIONS
• Use of Shan Zhu Yu is contraindicated in cases of deficient Kidney fire, or in dysuria caused by heat in the
lower jiao.
