CHINESE THERAPEUTIC ACTIONS
1. Releases the Exterior and Vents Measles
2. Clears Heat and Eliminates Toxins
3. Raises Yang Qi
DOSAGE
3 to 10 grams. The maximum dosage of Sheng Ma is 15 grams. Use smaller doses to raise yang qi. Use larger dosages to clear heat and eliminate toxins. Honey- processed Sheng Ma more effectively lifts yang qi.
CAUTIONS I CONTRAINDICA TIONS
• Due to its ascending and floating nature, Sheng Ma should be used with caution in patients who have yin deficiency, bleeding in the upper body, Liver yang rising, heat signs, complete eruption of measles, nausea due to reversed Stomach qi, or dyspnea due to reversed Lung qi.
